Event Description
Join Randall Warniers for a talk about Twenty Classic Feature Animations and Why They Are Good for You!
Short animated films—cartoons—have entertained audiences for over a century. In 1937 Walt Disney elevated the genre when his studio released the first feature-length animation—Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs— to widespread acclaim and box-office success. Audiences and critics were amazed at the artistry of the Disney film, and future feature-length animations from Disney dominated the creative world of animation for most of the 20th century.
In 1995 Pixar released Toy Story, a film made entirely with the emerging techniques of computer graphics. These powerful new tools helped feature animation blossom into the huge variety of movies we have today. This free in-person talk will discuss the history of animation and describe twenty significant feature animations that helped drive the technology and appeal of animation forward.
Please register for the talk on the library's website. A pdf summary of the twenty selected films (plus extra added attractions) will be given to attendees for future reference.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
