Event Description

Friday, July 18 | 3–8PM It’s BBQ night, Saltbox-style—smoky ribs, mac and cheese, cold drinks, and all the backyard vibes you love. We’re firing up the grill and turning up the music for night two of our birthday celebration under the tent next to Saltbox Kitchen. Come hang with us and enjoy live folk tunes from John Fitz (5–7PM), fresh veggies from the Saltbox Farm Stand, and sweet treats from the Uhlman’s Ice Cream Truck. Local partners will be joining the fun, and we’ll have lawn games, popcorn, and plenty of photo ops to round out the night. Tickets are $10 (advance purchase only!) and food + drink will be available for purchase inside the tent. Rain or shine, we’ll be celebrating with good food, good music, and great company! Tickets, full event details can be viewed on our website! saltboxkitchen.com/events-at-sbk

Concord’s Minutemen of 1861: Captain George L. Prescott and the Concord Artillery

In the early morning of April 19, 1861, Daniel Lawrence rode into the town of Concord on horseback, rousing the town militia with orders to report to Boston in response to President Lincoln’s call for militia volunteers. The method and timing of this call were no accident.

Relations be Hanged: Frayed Loyalties to King and Family

Stand in the middle of Concord’s North Bridge with the Minute Man statue on your right and the British soldiers’ grave on your left. Place your hands on the rough wooden handrail in front of you; slightly to the left, you will see The Old Manse through the trees. Peer down into the Concord River that Ralph Waldo called “the dark stream which seaward creeps” and brace yourself: this tale is about to get rough.
