Event Description

On the fifth anniversary of the attack on the US Capitol, First Parish in Concord will host a discussion on the current state of the rule of law in the United States. The featured speakers are Simon Cataldo, State Representative of the 14th Middlesex District, and Lisa Graves, the author of “Without Precedent: How Chief Justice Roberts and His Accomplices Rewrote the Constitution and Dismantled Our Rights”. Following their conversation, there will be a question-and-answer session. This free event is jointly sponsored by Reclaim Our Democracy, The League of Women Voters Concord-Carlisle, Concord Indivisible, and Kerem Shalom.

Harvard’s Year of Exile

Not so well known is the fact that Harvard played an important, if odd, role afterward in the early days of the Revolution, turning its campus over to the nascent American army. The William Munroe Special Collections at the Concord Free Public Library has recently expanded one of the nation’s most significant archives devoted to Louisa May Alcott and her remarkable family. With the acquisition of several newly discovered letters by Alcott and two important collections assembled over decades, the Library has added new layers of insight into the life, work, and legacy of the author of Little Women.
