Nature is springing forth and so is Patriots’ Day! And this year is very special as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War with the battles of Lexington and Concord. “The Shot Heard Around the World.” Wow!
Lady slipper orchids are a wonderful harbinger of spring. These lovely flowers are endangered, so please don’t disturb them. They need our protection.
The Red-winged Blackbird and the Great Egret (below) have arrived for the summer along with the many migrating birds. More signs of spring.
This pair of Wood Ducks are high in a
tree looking for a nice place to nest
and raise their ducklings. When the
young are mature enough, they
jump out of the nest and float
and flutter to the earth below.
A young buck (above) is enjoying our yard, and the owlet is curious as to what is out there.

Patriots’ Day events are always fun!
