The Umbrella's beloved Open Studios is May 2 & 3, from 12 - 5 PM in Concord, MA. It's fun for all, FREE to attend, and priceless to get to know your local artists! The Umbrella Arts Center is home to more than 60 working artists skilled in a variety of fine and applied arts, including ceramics, glass, fiber arts, jewelry making, illustration, mixed-media, painting, photography, printmaking, illustration, sculpture, woodworking, writing, and more. Our annual Open Studios is an incredible opportunity to meet our artists, learn about their process, and share in celebrating their work.

Learn how to transform a china teacup and saucer into an amazing flower arrangement with selected florals, butterflies, and birds in this unique family workshop. Most recognizable for her portrayal of seasoned triple-threat Ivy Lynn in NBC’s musical drama Smash, Tony nominee Megan Hilty is a dynamic performer both on stage and on screen. Hilty is currently playing the role of Madeline Ashton in the new hit musical, Death Becomes Her, which earned her a Tony Award nomination, a Drama League Award nomination, and two Broadway.com Audience Awards.

Come to The Umbrella for free family fun! Drop by any time during the two-hour time block to create a story-time-worthy character puppet, led by one of our talented instructors! Open to all ages and abilities. Registration appreciated (not required).

Join us for a weekend workshop with visiting artist Yeonsoo Kim as he guides participants through the history of traditional Korean earthenware Onggi vessels, their production and significance, and how he incorporates these functional jars into expressive contemporary narratives. 

Saturday registration is open to all; no experience necessary. Sunday is a hands-on workshop dedicated to the traditional Buncheong techniques of Sanggam (inlay) and Bakji (sgraffito).
