Henry David Thoreau accumulated a variety of tools, art, and natural specimens throughout his life as a homebuilder, surveyor, and collector. Ivan Gaskell, professor of cultural history and museum studies at Bard Graduate Center and author of Mindprints: Thoreau’s Material World, will be joined by Concord Museum Curator David Wood for a conversation on Thoreau’s interactions with everyday objects and how they shaped his thoughts.

Thelma tells the story of a 93-year-old grandmother who loses $10,000 to a con artist on the phone who pretends to be her grandson. With help from a friend and his motorized scooter, she soon embarks on a treacherous journey across Los Angeles to reclaim what was taken from her. The action-comedy film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and features June Squibb in her first starring role opposite the late Richard Roundtree. Selected Works by the late prolific Ipswich-based painter Thorpe Feidt on view October 1 – December 16, 2024 Thorpe Feidt (1940-2024) was a prolific painter based out of Ipswich, MA, and was a beloved professor of art and art history at Montserrat College, where he began teaching in 1973. At The Umbrella Arts Center.
