Goodwin Band: Then Rain, Then Wind Goodwin Band will be performing their third studio release: Then Rain, Then Wind. A collaboration with poets across time and space, this album brings aged yet ever-salient words to a new generation. Setting the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Rabindranath Tagore, Charles Baudelaire, Langston Hughes, and Li Qingzhao to music, Goodwin has reached across the globe and through time to create a work that highlights the essential humanity that ties us all together. Join Michael Goodwin on vocals and guitar, vocalist Emily Campagna, percussionist Yahuba Garcia, violinist Anne Preis, and cellist Celia Sieckert at the Concord Museum as they perform the album and discuss the unique process of bringing these songs to life. Michael will play a rare instrument from the Guitar Museum of New England’s core collection - supporting the band’s mission to bring beautiful instruments to life through performance. We Were Friends: To Bed/Eggs
Firelight Theatre Workshop presents We Were Friends: To Bed/Eggs, an episodic project of Firelight’s playful reimagining of Margaret Fuller and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s profound friendship set in today’s world. A late-night phone conversation between Ralph and Margaret takes the form of a radio play in which music, film, voice, and the hypnotic hum of a sleep apnea machine lead the two friends into territory both more intimate and less certain than any they’ve experienced in each other’s presence. This episode will be followed by a talkback with Firelight’s actors and writers. August 13, 6:30–8:00 p.m.
