Motherhood as Muse examines maternal identity as a source of artistic creation, with artists pulling from their own lived realities to explore the tensions of the maternal experience. Curators Kathryn Geismar and Deborah Peeples aim to redefine “the concept of the muse through the gaze of motherhood,” exploring motherhood as a transformative experience that is both deeply personal and universal. The exhibition includes painting, sculpture, photography, and multi-media installation, all engaging with the multifaceted state of becoming that is motherhood.
